IN THE NEWS

The Wilds has grown into one
of North America's largest
conservation centers, with more

wild. Ecologists gauge efforts to
restore the area to its condition
before strip-mining, which is positively

With Only 30 Red Wolves Left in the Wild,
These 10 Newborn Pups Are Big News

The New York Wolf Conservation Center
recently announced a litter of endangered
red wolves. This large litter is part of an
ongoing program to boost this population’s
small numbers. C2S2 is collaborating on
red wolf recovery efforts through many of
our members, and partnering with the 40
facilities breeding wolves, like the Wolf
Conservation Center. Additionally, C2S2 is
making a film to highlight red wolves and their
recover, and helping to coordinate a priority
science and research workshop at the
Smithsonian this summer aimed at saving
this species.
“By keeping this species alive through excellent
care and selective breeding, the WCC and the
other facilities that are part of the Red Wolf
Species
Survival Plan are keeping the hope alive
that the r
ed wolf can thrive in the wild once more.”
