Conservation Breeding Centers Course

It is our intent to secure the next generation of conservation professionals by engaging and training younger employees, students, and interns across the globe.

C2S2 and the Smithsonian-Mason School of Conservation offers a graduate and professional course, Conservation Breeding Centers for Wildlife Sustainability, at the Smithsonian Conservation Biology Institute (SCBI) in Front Royal, Virginia.  Instructors from C2S2 member institutions share insight on wide-ranging topics in wildlife conservation breeding and infrastructure, collaborative land use and natural resource management, research tools and techniques, new models for large-scale sustainability, and multiple case studies for diverse species. Significant time is spent outside the classroom exploring the landscapes, facilities, and operations. Institutions can work with C2S2 to provide a customized version of this course for their center or region.
